The best time of year to get married really depends on what you want in your wedding. If you are considering an outside wedding, especially, weather can be a factor, but here in Colorado there are both beautiful days and bad days in every season. You want to consider the weather, but perhaps it should be a secondary consideration.
Nonetheless, let’s get weather out of the way first, because it’s the most straightforward. If you want an outdoor wedding, it’s best to avoid April and May, because those are our wettest months. Torrential downpours are common, and some really heavy snows, too, especially in April. June can be rainy, too, but considerably less so, and the temperature is really nice. July is our hottest month, and it can be too hot outside for a ceremony in the middle of the day. We start to get our afternoon storms in June, and they continue through August, when they become really common. Morning ceremonies outside in August are often good, but in the afternoon, you’re asking to get rained out.
That leads us to September, our best month for outdoor weddings. The air is cooler, rain is less common, but it’s still very pleasant to be out, even if you want to dance until late. After September, it gets dicey for snow. This October was very warm, but they aren’t always. Throughout winter, there may be nice days (60 degrees or more and sunny are not uncommon), but they can’t be counted on.
Since it’s really unpredictable whether the weather be hot in Colorado, the more important question is what season you want to get married in. You may have a theme in mind that goes with a particular season. Or perhaps you like a certain flower that is in season (and therefore much cheaper) at a certain time of year. All of these factors can contribute to your decision-making.
Some people like the thought of having a Christmas wedding or planning their wedding around certain holidays. Other times, your family may have certain traditions that might make a certain time of year especially desirable. Or undesirable. Make sure you talk to your family before scheduling a wedding that might interfere with a family tradition.
And then there’re questions of availability and price of wedding venues, which we can discuss in more detail in person. To talk about the best time of year for your wedding, please contact Stonebrook Manor today to schedule a tour.
