There’s something about Masquerade parties that makes everyone love them: the mystery, the glamor and the feeling that they are happening in completely different eras – these are just some of the things that make us feel fascinated by masquerades.

With a bit of attention to detail, you can create the kind of reception that will really feel like a masked ball. Here are some of the Masquerade-like things you may want to integrate into your wedding too:

• Feathers. Masquerades are all about opulence and grace – and feathers really do add that to any kind of space. You can use whatever feathers you want (long and white feathers, peacock feathers – you name it) and you can use them in various ways. For instance, they can be included in gorgeous Venetian masks, they will work fantastically well on your bridal purse and even on your bridal bouquet and they add a touch of magnificence and mystery to your wedding décor too.
• Mirrors. No matter how mysterious, Masquerade balls tend to be very well-lit. To create that “extra-light” illusion, use mirrors to decorate your wedding venue and your wedding tables.
• Gold and silver glitter and pearl surfaces. As mentioned before, these balls are usually very opulent. While you may not be able to dress everything in gold and silver, you can definitely use glittery and pearl-like surfaces to decorate the wedding. This works on the plates, on the table linens and basically on everything else at your wedding.
