Choosing Gardens for your Fairy Tale Wedding

If you are the kind of person who’s been imagining your wedding for years, you likely have a good idea what you want it to be, and most likely “fairy tale” comes pretty close to the mark, right? If so, and if you’re considering an outdoor wedding to take advantage of Colorado’s glorious summers, you will have to look at the gardens of the wedding venues you are considering. Here are a few things to look for.

Flowers

Like butterflies, fairies love flowers, and your fairy tale wedding won’t be complete without them. Make sure your venue has a good assortment of types and colors, because they will really stand out in your pictures.

Trees

Where did Prince Charming awake Snow White from her near-death sleep? In a forest glade. Where did Prince Philip first dance with Princess Aurora? In a forest glade. Where was Simba reunited with Nala? Okay, so that was a jungle, but I think you see the pattern.

In addition to being romantic, overhanging trees will give refuge from the hot summer sun and make hanging out in the garden more comfortable.

Romantic Lighting

There’s no more romantic time of the day than twilight, and you want to make sure your gardens make the transition well with romantic lighting that is adequate, warm, and inviting.

Water Features

Did you know that on the day of your wedding, a babbling brook will whisper your name? Well, you’ll never know unless you have one you can listen to. Water features look and sound romantic, and they support many plants that have a distinct, lush appearance, such as reeds, rushes, lily pads, and willows. A bridge (sans troll) is also a nice feature, because it’s a good photo spot.

A Castle

Seriously! What fairy tale wedding is complete without a castle? Take a look at the building or buildings adjacent to the grounds. Would you want to have them in your pictures?
